BIG LAKE – The Texas AgriLife Extension Service office in Reagan County will conduct a free oilfield reclamation workshop from 8:30 a.m. until noon on Sept. 23 at their Big Lake office.
Three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be offered.
“We’re right in the heart of the West Texas oil patch, so reclaiming old well locations, roads, pits and other oilfield-related areas can amount to a substantial amount of acreage,” said Tyler Frey, AgriLife Extension agent in Reagan County.
“Our thought with having this workshop is to bring landowners up to date on just what is available to help bring this land back into production.”
Topics and speakers will include:
– Oilfield Reclamation, Joe Petersen, University of Texas Lands, Midland.
– Oilfield Reclamation and Control of Unwanted Plant Species, Alyson McDonald, AgriLife Extension range specialist, Fort Stockton.
– Natural Resources Conservation Service Update, Stephen Zueberbueler, Big Lake.
