Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory awards presented

COLLEGE STATION — Four employees of the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory have been given Director’s Excellence Awards along with a plaque and $100.

The Student Award was given to  Lauren Crumm, who worked in College Station’s Bacteriology Section until graduating from Texas A&M University in December. She was cited for “her enthusiasm (and) her curiosity.”

Sheila White was given the Technical Award for her efforts as  a technician at the laboratory’s facility in Center. The presentation noted her 22 years of experience during which she was “instrumental in writing the initial standard operating procedures for the lab and has helped with revisions for numerous testing procedures.”

In the Administrative Category, the lab’s chief of staff Stacy Morris was honored. She was cited for “her ability to communicate sensitive and complicated information to employees and AgriLife partners.”

Dr. Amy Swinford, Bacteriology Section head in College Station, was presented the Professional Award. She was called “a rare combination of innovative scientist, effective manager and influential educator.”
