MIAMI – A “Beef Marketing and Risk Management: Futures and Options” program will be held March 29 in Miami, according to Brandon Dukes, the Texas AgriLife Extension Service agriculture and natural science agent for Roberts County.
“This is an opportunity to hear the latest on the use of futures and options as marketing and price-protection tools,” Dukes said. “Beef cattle prices are high, and may get higher, and this program will cover methods of capturing high prices and preventing losses should the markets take a turn downward.”
The program will begin with registration and lunch at noon in the Miami Community Center, followed by sessions on the following topics:
- Beef Cattle Price Outlook, DeDe Jones, AgriLife Extension risk management specialist, Amarillo.
- Introduction to Futures and Options, Dr. Steve Amosson, AgriLife Extension economist, Amarillo.
- Sharpening Your Trading Skills, Amosson.
Cost for the event will be $10 per person. RSVPs are requested to 806-868-3191 by March 25.
