Ornamental plant and turf conference scheduled Jan. 19 in Amarillo

AMARILLO – The Texas Department of Agriculture and the Texas AgriLife Extension Service will conduct the annual ornamental plant and turf conference Jan. 19 at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center, 6500 W. Amarillo Blvd.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by the first presentation at 9 a.m., said Brandon Boughen, AgriLife Extension agricultural and natural resources agent for Potter County. Lunch will be “on your own.” Presentation will resume at 1 p.m. and the conference should conclude by 3:30 p.m.

Pesticide applicator license holders can earn five continuing education credits necessary for license renewal: two general, two integrated pest management and one on laws and regulations, Boughen said.

Industry professionals and Texas Department of Agriculture inspectors will be presenting information on tree planting care, herbicide applications, turf and ornamental pest control, vector control and laws and regulations, he said.
