PLAINVIEW – The Texas AgriLife Extension Service will conduct the Hale/Swisher Counties Crops Conference beginning at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 10 at the Ollie Liner Center, 2000 S. Columbia St. in Plainview.
The conference will feature presentations on cropping systems using less water, water management for reduced risk, crop considerations for 2012 and a presentation on pesticide laws and regulations.
Other topics will include talks on 2012 crop insurance, a water district update, 2011 cotton production review and variety performance, the discovery of a new thrips species, replacing Temik and the latest on transgenic corn and miticides.
There will be five Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units offered and an additional five continuing education units available for certified crop advisors.
