ASPERMONT – Texas AgriLife Extension Service has announced Cody Myers as its latest hire for the agriculture and natural resources agent position in Stonewall County.
Myers didn’t have to move far when he took the position on Feb. 1. A native of Aspermont, he has been working on his family farm and ranch since graduating from Texas Tech University with a degree in agriculture and applied economics in 2008. The family’s operations produce cotton, wheat and cattle.
Myers said he was asked by several people in town if he would apply, and since he grew up in the 4-H program and had been to a number of AgriLife Extension meetings through the family farm, he knew the good things the program offered.
“I kept thinking how I would like to help the program,” he said. “I think I can help the producers. I’m real excited about the job and ready to help anyone where I can. And the good thing about AgriLife Extension is if I don’t know it, I can ask someone who does know and make sure they get the help.”
“It is a pleasure to have Cody join the AgriLife Extension Service as the county agent for agriculture and natural resources in Stonewall County,” said Miles Dabovich, AgriLife Extension district administrator in Vernon. “I have known Cody and his family for years. He has a strong background in agriculture and 4-H and I feel it will benefit the program in Stonewall County.”
