COLLEGE STATION – Recent rains will surely be followed by weeds when the temperatures warm up, according to a Texas AgriLife Extension Service specialist. What to do with those weeds will be the subject of a webinar offered March 1.
“After a year of dry weather, we can count on having weeds this spring,” said Dr. Megan Dominguez, AgriLife Extension range specialist in Corpus Christi, who will present the webinar. “In this webinar, you will learn about common weed issues we might encounter, toxic plants that may be a problem and how to ensure you are putting out the right amount of herbicide.”
This webinar is a part of a series offered by AgriLife Extension’s ecosystem science and management unit as a way to earn Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units online, according to Brittany Grube, graduate assistant and webinar coordinator.
The webinars are scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. every first Thursday of the month, Grube said.
Dominguez’ March 1 presentation, “Weed Management: What to Look for This Spring,” will qualify for one general pesticide continuing education unit.
This webinar, as well as others in the 2011 and 2012 series, can be accessed at http://naturalresourcewebinars.org.
The webinars are now offered free to participants who are not seeking continuing education units, Grube said. However, if participants would like to receive the Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units, there is a $10 fee.
