CRANE – The Texas AgriLife Extension Service office in Crane County will conduct a Home and Ranch Wildfire Preparedness Seminar from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. April 10 in the Crane County Exhibit Hall, 900 W. 6th Street in Crane.

The program is part of their 2012 Drought Management and Recovery Series, said Caleb Eaton, AgriLife Extension agent in Crane County.

“As many of us are aware, wildfires don’t just affect rural areas,” Eaton said. “They can also have dire consequences for those living in town as well. As part of our educational recovery series, we have tailored this seminar for both the rural and urban homeowner who is actively trying to protect their property against wildfire.”

Topics and speakers will include:

– Ranch Wildfire Prevention Strategies, Eaton.

– Fire-wise Landscaping, Steven Schafersman, Permian Basin Master Gardeners, Midland.

– Ready Set Go: Protecting Your Home Against Wildfires, Patrick Allen, Texas Forest Service, College Station.

Individual registration is $10 due upon arrival.
