COLLEGE STATION – The American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians has given full accreditation to the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory through 2016.
TVMDL remains the only AAVLD-accredited laboratory in Texas and is among only 35 such facilities in the United States. The accreditation includes TVMDL’s full-service labs in College Station and Amarillo, as well as its poultry labs in Center and Gonzales.
The announcement caps a year-long effort by the TVMDL staff that included an extensive application process as well as site visits by the AAVLD accreditation team to each of the four TVMDL labs.
“Our agency takes pride in its quality system,” said Dr. Tammy Beckham, TVDML director . “This achievement highlights the effort we invest each day to ensure quality assurance is paramount. In my tenure at TVMDL, this is our greatest achievement and we have met this success only because of the teamwork of the TVMDL staff.”
AAVLD defines an accredited laboratory as one that is capable of providing a full range of diagnostic services year-round in a majority of the following essential disciplines: necropsy, histopathology, clinical pathology, bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, serology and toxicology.
