AUSTIN — The Texas AgriLife Extension Service will present an educational program July 26 that will offer continuing education units for certain pesticide applicators licensed by the Texas Department of Agriculture.
The course will be from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the AgriLife Extension office for Travis County, 1600-B Smith Road in Austin.
“Course presentations will address fire ant management, landscape pests and the basics of integrated pest management,” said Wizzie Brown, AgriLife Extension integrated pest management specialist for Travis County.
The educational course also will offer continuing education units toward maintaining licensing with TDA, Brown noted. These will be available for those holding private applicator licenses or structural pest control service licenses.
“We provide periodic opportunities for applicators to get continuing education units so they don’t have to worry about or wait for ‘last chance’ programs or courses,” Brown said. “It’s important that licensees keep up with their continuing education units on a regular, ongoing basis and don’t wait too long to obtain them.”
Private applicators will receive one general and two integrated pest management credits, while structural applicators will receive one general integrated pest management, one pest and one lawn and ornamental credit.
Brown said the cost for the course is $35 and seating is limited to the first 30 paid registrants, so attendees are encouraged to register as soon as possible. July 13 is the deadline for registration.
