BORGER – Megan Parr said education and community will highlight her efforts as she moves into the position of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service family and consumer sciences agent for Hutchinson County. She started in the position Sept. 1.
“Megan has a heart for service and helping people,” said Danny Nusser, AgriLife Extension district administrator in Amarillo. “She will utilize her unique abilities to communicate, network, and motivate youth and adult audiences, while providing outstanding programs.
“I am confident and excited that Megan Parr and her counterpart, Kristy Synatschk, will make a tremendous impact on the issues most important to the people in Hutchinson County,” Nusser said.
Parr, a native of Farmersville, pursued the AgriLife Extension position even though it was a long way from home, she said, because, “I went to school to be a county agent; I want to work with the community.”
She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Tarleton State University in Stephenville.
“I started out to be an ag teacher, but I didn’t want to be in the classroom all day, so I went into
Extension because it allows me to continue in the field of education and work with the public,” Parr said.
“I look forward to getting involved in the communities, getting to know the 4-Hers and educating the communities about all the programs AgriLife Extension family and consumer sciences has to offer,” she said.
