The scholarships were presented during the conference luncheon that featured Dr. James Kroll, director of the Institute for White-tailed Deer Management and Research at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, as the keynote speaker.

Receiving $1,000 each were: Gramm Guillory, Bosque County; Katelyn Thomas, Coryell County; Shelby Kilpatrick, Denton County; Candice Tindle, Falls County; Amanda Merrifield and Emmali Pankonien, McLennan County; Madeline Kostroun and Tyler Vrazel, Milam County; and Kathryn Lisle, Tarrant County.

Lauren Verfurth, Williamson County, received a $1,500 scholarship in honor of Scott Felton, former Blackland Income Growth Conference treasurer, to pursue studies in agricultural communications.

The annual conference is sponsored by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Waco Chamber of Commerce. It is held each year to provide extensive agricultural education to producers in the Blacklands region.
