CORSICANA — On March 27 in Corsicana, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will hold a special private pesticide applicator training for those who have never been licensed or have let their licenses expire for a year or longer.

The training will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Navarro County Expo Center, 4021 W. Highway 22, Corsicana, and cost $60, which will include study manuals and refreshments, said Logan Lair, AgriLife Extension agent for Navarro County.
Lair explained that anyone using restricted-use, regulated or state limited-use pesticides on their property must be licensed by the Texas Department of Agriculture.

“All Extension county offices conduct these trainings every year about this time. I just wanted to give our producers the option to take the training and testing all in one day,” he said.

Lair advised those needing to take the training to contact his office ahead of time to preregister and get copies of the manuals and associated worksheets.

“It’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the material beforehand, but we won’t turn anyone away who wants to register at the door on the day of the training,” he said.

To preregister or for more information, contact the AgriLife Extension office in Navarro County at 903-654-3075 or Lair at jllair@ag.tamu.edu .

“If you need any special accommodations or have dietary needs, please contact us by March 20 so we can consider your request,” he said.
