SAN ANTONIO – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present its Backyard Basics program “Backyard Poultry: Laying Hens 101” from 9 a.m.-noon on April 27 at the AgriLife Extension office for Bexar County, 3355 Cherry Ridge Drive, Suite 212, San Antonio.
“This is a comprehensive introductory course for those who want to keep small flocks of laying hens, said Cheree Leita, AgriLife Extension agriculture youth educator, Bexar County. “Those attending will learn about many aspects of raising laying hens, including their feeding, care and egg production.”
Leita said the course is designed for people of all ages, and participants will receive all or most of the information needed to successfully keep chickens in their backyard.
The program will be presented by Dr. Craig C. Couflal, AgriLife Extension poultry specialist, poultry science department, Texas A&M University, College Station.
