EAGLE LAKE – The Colorado County Row Crop Committee will hold its annual Row Crop Tour starting at 4:30 p.m. June 20 at Nada Hall on Old Nada Road.
The tour will provide producers the opportunity to view corn hybrid and cotton variety trials, hear from speakers about the latest in pre-emergent herbicide products, receive a legislative update and visit with tour sponsors and other producers.
“The committee is made up of local producers who meet to plan this tour each year, making contact with speakers to provide valuable and timely updates for producers in the area,” said Kara Matheney, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agent for Colorado County.
“The topics on the agenda are those that our producers are currently facing in the field,” she said. “This is an opportunity to see the latest varieties in production, to visit with agribusiness representatives about their products and Extension specialists about current research in crop production.”
The success of this tour has been driven by support from the Colorado County Row Crop Committee and the continued sponsorship from area agribusinesses, she said. The sponsorships allow the event to be offered free of change and allow the committee to support the youth of Colorado County through the local 4-H Program.
Three continuing education units will be offered to all licensed private pesticide applicators in attendance. At the conclusion of the tour, a catered meal will be served.
