SAN ANGELO – Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service personnel urge all West Texans to grab their friends and head out to the Auto Wrangler Sale Pavilion at the San Angelo Fairgrounds for a night of food, fun and healthy cooking.
The Dinner Tonight! Healthy Cooking School will be from 6-8 p.m. and offer a wide variety of quick easy-to-make family meals from recipes straight out of the 52-page Dinner Tonight! Cookbook, said Kathy Aycock, AgriLife Extension food and consumer sciences agent in Tom Green County.
Individual preregistration by Sept. 30 is $20 and $25 thereafter. The fee includes the cookbook, gift bag and door-prize chances. RSVP by calling the AgriLife Extension office in Tom Green County at 325-659-6527.
“The cookbook has 12 complete meal plans and all the recipes, down to the side dishes and desserts you need to quickly produce tasty, yet healthy family meals,” Aycock said. “Our target audience is today’s busy people who still feel it’s important to prepare good, wholesome meals, but just don’t have time for more traditional recipes and meal preparation.
“Our goals for this school are to promote family mealtime, teach families healthy meal planning and food preparation techniques and promote Texas agriculture.”
Aycock said the school will feature local AgriLife Extension agents from Tom Green, Coke, Concho, Runnels, Brown and Sterling counties.
For more information, call the AgriLife Extension office in any of the participating counties. More than 200 Dinner Tonight! food preparation videos and downloadable recipes are also available at http://healthyliving.tamu.edu .
