MERTZON – Jenifer Harris has been named the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service family and consumer sciences agent for Irion and Schleicher counties, according to Scott Durham, AgriLife Extension administrator at San Angelo.
“We are very pleased to have Jenifer join us here in AgriLife Extension’s West Central District,” Durham said. “She is well qualified for the job, has ties to the area and possesses a strong rural background, which should serve her well in her new position.
“Jenifer will complete AgriLife Extension’s First Step orientation program in Tom Green County beginning Nov. 1 prior to moving into her permanent post in Irion and Schleicher counties on Dec. 1.”
Harris holds a bachelor’s degree from Angelo State University at San Angelo and earned a teaching certificate from Sul Ross State University at Alpine.
Durham said Harris has 17 years experience teaching family and consumer sciences in the Texas public school system, at Rocksprings, Brackettville and Eagle Pass. Her teaching background includes food science and nutrition, clothing and textiles, and career exploration.
Through her teaching tenure, she has served as a faculty class and student council sponsor and sponsor of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, or FCCLA, which is an organization for students participating in consumer sciences education.
