CANADIAN – Andy Holloway will begin his new duties as the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agriculture and natural resources agent for Hemphill County on Dec. 16, according to Brandon Dukes, AgriLife Extension district administrator in Amarillo.
Holloway will move from Stamford, where he has been involved in the Brangus and Angus associations, as well as owning and operating his own cow/calf and cattle marketing business.
“I believe Andy is a perfect fit for Hemphill County,” Dukes said. “His practical experience in cattle ranching, coupled with his experiences as a 4-H volunteer and his involvement with the Junior Angus Association, ensures he will be a terrific educator and resource for ranchers and ag producers, as well as an outstanding mentor and educator for young people.”
Holloway earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in animal science, with additional course work in agriculture law and oil and gas. Through the years, he has founded ASH Marketing Service Inc., ASH Oil Co. and ASH Angus LLC, and spent time as a consultant working in marketing, negotiations, land and cattle management, and communications.
“I’m excited to be returning to this professional agricultural service that I know can help others,” Holloway said. “Because of Mother Nature’s heavy handedness with the drought the past few years, this was an opportunity for me to make some changes in life.
“My dad, Kenneth Holloway, was a county agent in the Panhandle for more than 30 years, so basically I’ve been a little county agent, learning at his side, all my life. Now I’m anxious to use my life experiences to help other ag producers.”
