MILLERSVIEW – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service offices in Concho and McCulloch counties have set their annual wheat tour for May 1 in the Millersview Gymnasium in Millersview.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. followed by the program at 8:30 a.m. The program is free and open to the public with a sponsored lunch provided. Adjournment is set for 5 p.m.
Five Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be available-one laws and regulations, one integrated pest management, one drift minimization and two general.
“We have a full slate of wheat-related topics planned for this event,” said Brady Rose Evans, AgriLife Extension agent in Concho County. “We’ll be addressing everything from the new farm bill to pesticide use and will even take a look at what producers can expect weather-wise during the fast approaching wheat harvest season. So whether your wheat production practices lean more toward grazing, grain or both, this program should provide you with some solid information to help with a wide range of management-related issues.”

– Chemical Use Around Stored Grain/Brown Wheat Mite and Hessian Fly Management, Rick Minzenmayer, AgriLife Extension Runnels-Tom Green county entomologist, Ballinger.
– Forage and Grazing/Pest Resistant Wheat Varieties, Dr. David Drake, AgriLife Extension agronomist, San Angelo, and Dr. Clark Neely, AgriLife Extension small grain and oilseed specialist, College Station.
