CAT SPRING — Vineyard pests will be the focus of a field day April 12 at the Cat Spring Agricultural Society meeting room, 13035 Hall Road, according to Dr. Justin Scheiner, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service viticulturist in College Station.
The event, sponsored by AgriLife Extension and the Austin County Grape Growers Committee, will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m.
The cost at the door is $50 per person or $60 per couple and includes lunch, educational materials and a wine social, Scheiner said.
Topics for the morning session will include common insect pests and control strategies, insecticides and herbicides, grapevine diseases and fungicides. Afternoon topics talks will be on developing a spray program, effective vineyard spraying and sprayer calibration.
The event will conclude with a wine social at 4 p.m.
