SEGUIN – The 2014 Field Crops Program will be held from 8 a.m.-noon June 25 at the Texas Agricultural Education and Heritage Center, 390 Cordova Road in Seguin.
The program is presented by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office for Guadalupe County and the Guadalupe County Field Crops Program Area Committee.
Cost is $10 per person. Three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education credits – one integrated pest management and two general – will be offered for private, commercial and non-commercial applicators.
Registration will be from 8-8:30 a.m. with presentations to follow. Topics and speakers will include:
— Sorghum Sugarcane Aphid, Dr. Raul Villanueva, AgriLife Extension entomologist, Weslaco.
— Nutrient Management and Veris Mapping, Dr. Dennis Coker, AgriLife Extension program specialist, College Station.
— Long-Range Weather Forecast, Joe Arellano, meteorologist, National Weather Service, New Braunfels.
— Farm Bill Update and Field Crops Market Update, Dr. Rob Hogan, AgriLife Extension economist, Uvalde.
