LUBBOCK – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a Pecan Production Seminar, beginning with registration from 9-9:30 a.m. and lasting until noon on Aug. 12 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Lubbock.
The center is located at 1102 E. Farm-to-Market Road 1294.
“This seminar will discuss best management practices for small acreage pecan production on the Texas South Plains,” said Robert Scott, AgriLife Extension agent in Lubbock County. “Anyone with an interest in pecan production will benefit. Our featured speaker, via live web teleconferencing, will be veteran pecan expert Dr. Larry Stein, AgriLife Extension fruit and nut production horticulturist at Uvalde.”
Individual registration is $15 due upon arrival. Those planning to attend should RSVP by Aug. 11 to the AgriLife Extension office in Lubbock at 806-775-1680 or email Scott at rj-scott@tamu.edu .
Scott said plenty of time has been allotted during the program for questions to be answered by himself, Stein and Vikram Baliga, AgriLife Extension horticulturist at Lubbock.
Two Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be available.
