FORT STOCKTON – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Pecos County will conduct a Pesticide Management and Continuing Education Unit Workshop beginning at 8 a.m. Nov. 18 at the Pecos County Civic Center, 1674 Airport Drive in Fort Stockton.
Individual registration is $20. Preregistration is preferred, but not required. To preregister and for more information, call the AgriLife Extension office in Pecos County at 432-336-2541.
Five Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units — three general, one integrated pest management and one laws and regulations — will be available, for licensed commercial, noncommercial and private applicators. Also available will be four continuing education units — three general and one laws and regulations — for licensed structural pest control applicators, said David Disselhorst, AgriLife Extension agent in Pecos County.
Topics and speakers will include:
– Care and management of trees in the Trans-Pecos, Oscar Mestas, Texas A&M Forest Service urban forester, El Paso.
– Texas pesticide laws and regulations, Mario Saavedra, Texas Department of Agriculture regional education specialist, El Paso.
– Predator control and management, to be presented by a Texas Wildlife Services representative.
– Simple steps to calibrate your sprayer, Dr. Alyson McDonald, AgriLife Extension range specialist, Fort Stockton.
– Integrated pest management principles and practices, Dr. Mark Muegge, AgriLife Extension entomologist, Fort Stockton.
