AMARILLO – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a Farm Bill Decision Aid Training seminar for agribusinesses Dec. 4, according to DeDe Jones, AgriLife Extension risk management specialist in Amarillo.
The free classroom instruction will be from 10 a.m. to noon, and trainers will also be on hand from 1-5 p.m. to provide individual assistance for producers, Jones said. The day-long event will be at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center, 6500 W. Amarillo Blvd. in Amarillo.
The continued training is a part of AgriLife Extension’s goal to establish a network of trained individuals who can help producers if they need assistance working through the farm program decision aid tool, she said.
“A number of agribusinesses have stepped up and requested this training so they can assist their clients with program sign-up,” Jones said.
This training will focus on the data entry process required to correctly run the farm bill decision tool developed by the Agricultural and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M University in partnership with the University of Missouri.
This tool is officially endorsed by the Risk Management Association as one of two decision aids in the country that producers should use in evaluating farm program decisions, Jones said.
The RSVP deadline is Dec. 1. Attendance is limited, so early registration is encouraged. For additional questions contact Jones at 806-677-5667.
