COLLEGE STATION – The next military caregiving professional development webinar titled “Working to Balance Life” will be conducted at 10 a.m. March 4.
This is one of the monthly webinars offered through the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s Military Program to provide professional development and transform content into interactive resources for end users who may not be able to leave their homes for training.
No registration is required. The Military Families Learning Network has applied for one continuing education credit from the National Association of Social Workers. Also, certificates of completion will be available for service providers.
“Trying to balance work, family and life can be an elusive task,” said Rachel Brauner, co-principal investigator and program coordinator with AgriLife Extension’s Military Program in College Station.
The webinar presenter, Dr. Sandra Morissette, is an assessment core chief within the Veterans Affairs Center of Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans in Waco and an associate professor with the Texas A&M University Health Science Center, College of Medicine in College Station.
“This presentation will discuss the work-life balancing act through understanding unbalance, personal health effects and organizational impact,” Brauner said. “Strategies will be discussed that lay the groundwork for finding personal work-life balance. Alternate ways of conceptualizing life balance will be proposed, as well as an exercise to begin swinging the pendulum towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.”
This presentation is appropriate for those who are seeking life balance, as well as employers, supervisors and managers who are trying to retain and strengthen their workforce, said Andy Crocker, co-principal investigator and AgriLife Extension gerontology and health program specialist in Amarillo.
