TYLER – The second of six seminars in the East Texas Garden Lecture Series will be held March 14 at Chamblee’s Rose Nursery, 10926 U.S. Highway 69 N., Tyler.
“Come to this morning program to learn about the newest, easy-care rose varieties that require little or no spraying and can make a colorful impact in your landscape,” said Keith Hansen, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service horticulture agent for Smith County.
Hansen said registration will start at 8:30 a.m. at the nursery, with the program beginning at 9 a.m. and ending about 11 a.m. The cost is $15, which may be paid with cash, check or credit card at the door.
“Mark Chamblee, the nursery’s owner, will discuss new rose varieties coming out of breeding programs that are developing superior plants for the environmentally conscious gardener,” Hansen said. “Plus, Chamblee will show you how to correctly prune all types of roses.”
The formal title of Chamblee’s presentation will be “Blooming with Kordes Roses and American Rose Trials for Sustainability Program,” he said.
The program will end with a tour of the nursery, conducted by Chamblee, Hansen said.
