SEYMOUR – The Baylor County Range Management Workshop will be May 1 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Baylor County, 500 N. Main St. in Seymour.
“The program is designed to help producers make decisions on the control of mesquite and prickly pear to improve rangelands,” said Martin Shaw, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for Baylor County
There will be a $10 registration fee at the door, but preregistration is requested by April 30 by calling 940-889-5581.
The program will begin at 1 p.m. and conclude at 4:30 p.m.
Topics and speakers will be:
– Managing mesquite, viewing control plots and the efficacy of methods, James Jackson, AgriLife Extension range management specialist from Stephenville.
– Chemical control methods, Gerald Hobson, Bayer CropScience area sales manager from Peaster.
– Chemical control methods, Ralph Porter, Dow AgroSciences senior sales representative from Abilene.
– Fencing demonstration and benefits of fixed-wire fence versus traditional fencing, Harold Shipman, Stay-Tuff Fencing territory manager from New Braunfels.
