PRESIDIO – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a Vector Abatement and Mitigation Workshop starting at 9 a.m. May 12 at the Presidio Activity Center, 1200 O’Reilly St. in Presidio.
Jesse Schneider, AgriLife Extension agent in Presidio County, said the workshop is meant to train city and municipality personnel on mosquito abatement.
“The workshop curriculum will include training on mosquito identification, biology, ecology, control tactics, trap usage, surveillance and control,” she said. “An overview of vector-borne diseases of concern in Texas will also be presented as will a discussion on other biting insects.”

Continuing education units will be offered for pesticide licensing through the Texas Department of Agriculture and animal control – three for structural and five for agriculture. A total of 4.75 animal control continuing education hours will also be available.
