COLLEGE STATION – “Aquatic Vegetation Management” will be the topic of the Oct. 1 natural resources webinar by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service ecosystem science and management unit.
The webinar is a part of the Texas Range Webinar Series scheduled the first Thursday of each month from noon to 1 p.m., said Pete Flores, webinar coordinator in Corpus Christi.
The presenter for this webinar is Dr. Todd Sink, AgriLife Extension fisheries specialist in College Station. Sink’s presentation is designed to help pond owners and their advisors identify and manage aquatic vegetation.
“Aquatic vegetation management can be a perplexing problem,” Sink said. “The first part of that problem is proper identification. Management of most aquatic plant species depends on properly identifying the desirable or nuisance plant.”
He said the management options for common problematic species will be covered including mechanical, biological and chemical controls.
Participants seeking Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units must pay a $10 fee on the website. For all others, there is no fee, Flores said. Licensed agricultural private pesticide applicators can earn one integrated pest management unit from this webinar.
This webinar and others in the series can be accessed at http://naturalresourcewebinars.tamu.edu.
