SUGAR LAND — A regional landscape and irrigation symposium will be held from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Nov. 13, according to Boone Holladay, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agent for Fort Bend County.
The event will be at Constellation Field, 1 Stadium Drive, Sugar Land. Registration is $50 until Oct. 23 and $65 thereafter until Nov. 10. A form is available at http://bit.ly/fortbendlandirrigation.
“Improving Water Management; Improving Business” is the theme, Holladay said, and topics will include return on investment for low-water landscapes, integrating water savings into a business model and communicating about water.
Participants will have a choice between two tracks: irrigation and landscape. The irrigation track will include how water and soil relationships impact the landscape, incorporating rainwater harvesting into irrigation design, and quality planning and installation of low–volume irrigation. The landscape track includes watering and plant health, growing business with industry programs and techniques for integrated water management.
Continuing education units will be offered for Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Texas Nursery and Landscape Association and Texas Department of Agriculture requirements.
