DUMAS – Carolyn Prill-Bennett has been hired as the new Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service family and consumer sciences agent for Moore County, according to Brandon Dukes, AgriLife Extension district administrator in Amarillo.
Prill-Bennett began Nov. 9, starting in the agency’s First Step training program in Potter County and will begin in the Moore County office on Dec. 1.
“Carolyn brings with her a tremendous amount of experience and familiarity with AgriLife Extension,” Dukes said. “We look forward to what she will contribute to our growing family and consumer sciences programs in Moore County.”
Prill-Bennett, a native of Laurel, Montana, earned her bachelor’s degree in education at Montana State University in Billings, Montana, and her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Lesley College in Spokane, Washington.
Prior to joining AgriLife Extension, she was a science tutor at the Amarillo College Moore County campus in Dumas. She worked almost 20 years as a special education teacher and science teacher in Great Falls, Montana, before moving to Texas.
Prill-Bennett said she has worked with adults and students in many capacities in education, and also has experience as a 4-H parent and group leader, including 14 years at the Montana State Fair.
“I still get to work with kids and the community, so I’m excited about not giving that up,” she said. “I would like to use my background in speech and debate to help the 4-H kids with their speaking skills and working within the parliamentary procedure process.
“But at the same time, I’m looking forward to moving on to some new things,” she said. “There are all kinds of possibilities for programs for adults – sewing, cooking, educational – that we will be exploring and offering in Moore County.”
