ABILENE – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct the Big Country Agricultural and Structural Pesticide Continuing Education Conference Dec. 9 in the Big Country Hall, located on the grounds of the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene.
The Big Country Hall adjoins the AgriLife Extension office in Taylor County at 1982 Lytle Way.
The conference will open with registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by the program from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
“This is our annual continuing education unit conference that’s full of excellent information on a variety of subjects, but with a major aim of offering credits to the various pesticide license holders who need to keep their respective licenses current,” said Robert Pritz, AgriLife Extension agent in Taylor County.
The conference offers five Texas Department of Agriculture private applicator credits: three general, one integrated pest management and one laws and regulations. It will also offer six Texas Department of Agriculture structural applicator credits: one lawn and ornamental, one pest, one weed, one integrated pest management, one laws and regulations, and one termite.
Individual preregistration by Dec. 4 is $40 and $50 thereafter and upon arrival. Refreshments and lunch are included. Program topics will include presentations on weed management, laws and regulations, plant disease identification and management, integrated pest management concepts, insect pest identification and management, and management of termites in home landscapes.
