AMARILLO – The Texas High Plains Grain Elevator Workshop will be held Jan. 22 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 9000 W. Interstate 40 in Amarillo, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service specialist.
The meeting is set for 8:15 a.m.to 4:15 p.m., said Dr. Ed Bynum, AgriLife Extension entomologist in Amarillo. Registration is $50 at the door, and checks should be made payable to: Tri-State Chapter of GEAPS.
Program topics and speakers include:
— Aeration, Dr. Carol Jones, Oklahoma State University agricultural engineer, Stillwater, Oklahoma.
— Bird and rodent control, Mark McQuillan, co-founder of M&M Specialty Services, Leavenworth, Kansas.
— Laws and regulations, Levon Harman, retired Texas Department of Agriculture inspector, Tulia.
— Dust control, Jones.
— Equipment safety, McQuillan.
— Worker protection standards, Glen Walkup, Compliance Plus owner, Amarillo.
Continuing education units by the Texas Department of Agriculture for commercial, non-commercial and private applicator licensees are pending at this time, Bynum said.
The program is jointly sponsored by AgriLife Extension and the Tri-State Chapter of Grain Elevator and Processing Society.
