CANYON – A Pre-Plant Producer Update Meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 27 by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service at the Kuhlman Extension Center, 200 N. Brown Road, Canyon.
“We want to educate producers on some strategies for managing issues they may face during the upcoming planting season,” said Dr. J. D. Ragland, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for Randall County.
The fee at the door is $10, and lunch will be included. RSVPs are requested by noon Jan. 26 to 806-468-5543.
The program, sponsored by Randall County Crops and Beef Cattle Committee, will offer two Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units – one general, one drift minimization – to private pesticide applicators.
Program topics and speakers will be:
– Corn and Sorghum Herbicide Update/Recommendations, Dr. Jourdan Bell, AgriLife Extension agronomist, Amarillo.
– Preparing for Sugarcane Aphid Control on the Texas High Plains for 2016, Dr. Ed Bynum, AgriLife Extension entomologist, Amarillo.
– 2015 Trial Results – Forage/Sorghum Silage, and Texas Panhandle Cotton, Bell.
– Marketing Strategies for 2016 Commodities, Dr. Steve Amosson, AgriLife Extension economist, Amarillo.
