BROWNWOOD – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a landscape aquaponics program at 6 p.m. April 4 in the AgriLife Extension Brown County office, 605 Fisk Ave. in Brownwood.
Scott Anderson, AgriLife Extension agent in Brown County, said aquaponics is usually a fish-plant system in which the fish waste supplies nutrients for garden plants raised hydroponically. The plants, in turn, purify the water, which is returned to the fish. He said the water can also be used in the home landscape or vegetable garden.
“Aquaponics can be a new addition to home landscapes,” he said. “This program is meant for the homeowner interested in learning more about this growing technology.
“Peter Woods, AgriLife Extension program specialist from Bay City, will present the program.”
Individual registration is $10 due upon arrival.
