AMARILLO – “ADHD, Anxiety and Autism: Practical Approaches to Child Psychiatry” will be the next monthly military caregiving professional development webinar offered through the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s Military Program.
The webinar will begin at 10 a.m. April 27. The event is free and open to all who may be interested, but registration is required, said Andy Crocker, AgriLife Extension gerontology and health program specialist in Amarillo.
Rachel Brauner, program coordinator with AgriLife Extension’s Military Program in College Station, said the special needs webinar will be an interactive session provided by a board certified child psychiatrist who will focus on two very common disorders in childhood: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and anxiety.
The presenter will be Dr. Brian Dixon, executive director of Progressive Psychiatry, Fort Worth.
Participants will also have the opportunity to learn more about the mystery of autism spectrum disorders and learn about practical ways parents and caregivers can help manage these disorders, while reconnecting with the fun of parenting, Brauner said.
The webinars offered through AgriLife Extension’s Military Program provide professional development and interactive resources for those who may not be able to leave their homes for training, Crocker said.
The Military Families Learning Network will provide certificates of completion for those interested in receiving training hours.
