AUSTIN — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Travis County will present a food preservation workshop June 4 in its offices at 1600-B Smith Road in Austin.
The program will be from 9:30 a.m-noon and cover the basics of drying vegetables, fruits and herbs, said Sonia Coyle, AgriLife Extension family and consumer sciences agent for Travis County. It will be taught by Dr. Jenna Anding, AgriLife Extension specialist and associate head of the nutrition and food science department at Texas A&M University in College Station.
“The workshop is open to adults and youth and will provide a thorough introduction to home food preservation,” Coyle said. “Home food preservation is an excellent way to maintain the nutritional content of your homegrown vegetables and fruits.”
The cost is $40 per person and class size will be limited to 30 individuals.
The deadline to register is June 3. To register online go to https://agriliferegister.tamu.edu/. To register by phone, call 979-845-2604.
