SAN ANTONIO – The Rainwater Harvesting Made Easy program will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 18 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office at 3355 Cherry Ridge Drive in San Antonio.
The program will be presented by AgriLife Extension and the Bexar County Master Gardener horticultural volunteer organization.
“Bexar County Master Gardeners Lou Kellogg and Anna Vogler will be the main presenters and will show attendees how to construct their own rain barrel for capturing rainwater,” said David Rodriguez, AgriLife Extension horticulturist for Bexar County and program coordinator.
Rodriguez said the registration cost of $50 for individuals and $60 per couple includes a rain barrel. Only one rain barrel will be given per couple.
“It’s easy to harvest water and save money by collecting it in a home catchment system,” he said. “Lou and Anna will show how easy it is to build a basic system you can use at home to capture and store water.”
Rodriguez said attendees must RSVP by June 12 and, due to a 20-person limit for the program, should contact the AgriLife Extension office as soon as possible to secure a space.
