LULING — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service offices in Bastrop, Caldwell, Gonzales and Guadalupe counties will present a 4-H 101 program from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Luling Foundation Farm.
The farm is located at 523 S. Mulberry in Luling.
The program is free and all youth interested in learning about 4-H are welcome. However, only dates and meeting information from participating counties will be given that evening, said Geri Kline, AgriLife Extension assistant county agent – agriculture literacy, Gonzales County.
Kline said the program will introduce participants to the variety of activities and topics of interest available through 4-H.
“This will be a come-and-go event with booths offering information on numerous 4-H projects,” she said.
Projects to be addressed at the program include clothing and fashion, companion animals, consumer decision making, discovery science, entomology, food and nutrition, horse, judging contests, leadership programs, livestock projects, photography, public speaking, robotics, scholarships, shooting sports and Share the Fun talent contests.
Kline said a jackpot ag product identification contest will be part of the evening’s activities.
“The contest will run concurrently with the program from 6-7 p.m.,” she said. “Contestants identify 20 agriculture products from Texas and answer a question about the product. The cost is $1 and the winner takes the jackpot in each age division.”
