LAMPASAS – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct the Central Texas Cow/Calf Clinic on Sept. 22 in Lampasas.
The clinic starts with registration at 8 a.m. at the Lampasas County Farm Bureau Building, 1793 N. U.S. Highway 281. The program will start at 8:30 a.m. and end with a catered lunch at noon.
Heath Lusty, AgriLife Extension agent in Lampasas County, said the clinic will deal with beef cattle health issues pertinent to West Central Texas producers.
“This will be a pretty diverse program, but one with some good solid take-home information producers can leave with and use in their own operations,” Lusty said.
Topics and speakers will include:
– Livestock Parasite Management, Dr. Sonja Swiger, AgriLife Extension livestock entomologist, Stephenville.
– Chute-side Manners for Herd Health, Dr. Whitney Whitworth, consultant, Lyssy and Eckel Feeds, Llano.
– Veterinary Feed Directive, What Ranchers Need to Know, Dr. Jason Cleere, AgriLife Extension beef specialist, College Station.
– Cattle Market Outlook, Bill Thompson, AgriLife Extension economist, San Angelo.
Individual registration is $25 and includes the meal.
For more information and to preregister by Sept. 19, call the AgriLife Extension office in Lampasas County at 512-556-8271.
Three Texas Department of Agriculture private applicator continuing education units in the general category will be offered.
The clinic is a collaborative effort of the AgriLife Extension offices in Lampasas, Burnet and Llano counties.
