LUBBOCK – Meat goat management will be the subject of a free Texas AgriLife Extension Service workshop beginning at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Lubbock.
The center is located three miles north of Lubbock International Airport on East Farm-to-Market Road 1294.
“Meat goat production continues to be very popular in our area,” said Robert Scott, AgriLife Extension agent in Lubbock County. “We had a workshop similar to this a couple of years ago and from the questions I receive at my office on subjects like internal parasite control and proper feeding management, it’s apparent that it’s time for another one.”
Scott said Dr. Frank Craddock will be the keynote speaker. Craddock is the state AgriLife Extension sheep and goat specialist headquartered at San Angelo.
The workshop will address health, nutrition, general management, selection and evaluation of live animals, as well as animal reproduction and marketing.
