SAN ANTONIO — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Bexar County will present a beginner’s Backyard Poultry program called “Introduction to City Chickens” from 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Oct. 27 at West Feed Store, 7730 Dove Drive, San Antonio.
“Keeping chickens in the city can be fun and rewarding,” said Bryan Davis, AgriLife Extension agent, Bexar County. “This program will cover the basics of how to keep and care for laying hens — from designing a coop to what to feed them.”
Davis said the program is part of AgriLife Extension’s Backyard Basics series focusing on home-grown and homemade foods, which is being piloted in Bexar and nearby counties. More information on upcoming programs can be found at http://bexar-tx.tamu.edu.
An intermediate-level program and backyard poultry workshop will also be presented in subsequent months, he noted.
Registration for the Oct. 27 program is $10 per person. RSVP to Angel Torres at 210-467-6575 or email@example.com.
