COLLEGE STATION – The Ellison International Floriculture Chair Distinguished Lecture Series will feature Michael V. Geary, chief executive officer of OFA—The Association of Horticulture Professionals, headquartered in Ohio.
The event is Oct. 17 beginning with a reception at 3 p.m. followed by his presentation at 4 p.m. in Room 129 of the Agriculture and Life Sciences Building at Texas A&M University, 600 John Kimbrough Blvd. The event is free and open to the public.
Geary will speak about “Paradigm Shifts in the Floriculture Industry.”
OFA is a national organization representing the interests of greenhouse and nursery growers, garden center operators, retail florists, interior and exterior plantscapers, industry suppliers, students, and educators.
Geary also serves as the executive director of the Ohio Produce Growers and Marketers Association and the Nursery & Landscape Association Executives of North America. Additionally, in 2013 he will become executive vice president of the American Nursery and Landscape Association.
He has 20 years of association management and organizational development experience including serving as executive director of the American Institute of Architecture Students, senior director for the National Association of Home Builders, and senior staff positions with The Delta Chi Fraternity and the North American Interfraternity Conference. He is a graduate of the University of Florida and earned the designation of certified association executive from the American Society of Association Executives in 2000.
