COLLEGE STATION – Ronda Fisher, a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service senior office assistant in Amarillo, has been awarded the agency’s Superior Service Award in the office support category.
The award, presented Jan. 8 during the annual Texas A&M AgriLife Conference in College Station, is given to those who demonstrate outstanding performance or provide exceptional service to AgriLife Extension, an educational outreach agency of the Texas A&M University System.
In her award nomination, Fisher was cited for her outstanding job knowledge and skills, as well as her exemplary character traits. “Ronda takes this responsibility to heart as she strives to provide service to agency partners, external associations, clientele, specialists and county Extension agents,” the nomination stated
Fisher has been employed in District 1 since December 1998. The nomination states she has developed knowledge and expertise exceeding the scope of her job responsibilities, and that she is an invaluable assistant to specialists she supports, who depend on her to handle their business matters and field questions from clientele while they are away from the office.
Fisher has supported AgriLife Extension faculty members specializing in entomology, irrigation engineering and beef cattle.
“Ronda does not draw the line with her duties of administrative support, but has been known to examine an insect sample under a microscope or assist hands‐on with programs when AgriLife
Extension partners with local schools,” the nomination states.
She supports several major conferences each year which requires that she works well with external partners and committees. Included in those conferences are the Texas High Plains Grain Elevator Workshop, Plains Nutrition Council annual meeting, Amarillo Farm and Ranch Management Symposium, and the High Plains Irrigation Conference.
In connection with these conferences, Fisher is responsible for securing continuing education unit credits for attendees, registration, issuance of certificates, working with external partners or speakers, and alldetails associated with planning and implementing major conferences.
Dr. Ted McCollum, AgriLife Extension beef cattle specialist in Amarillo, said, “Across the years Ronda has proven her dependability, work ethic and dedication to the center, our mission and our clientele. Ronda’s efforts in support of specialist‐based activities have been recognized and complimented by our industry clientele and stakeholders. She is a valuable team member for the Extension group at our Center and a tremendous liaison for our industry partners and clientele.”
