SAN ANTONIO – The Backyard Gardening series program “How to Build a Raised Bed Garden and Saving Water/Money through Drip Irrigation” will be presented from 6:30-8:30 p.m. May 21 by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office for Bexar County.
The program will be held at the agency office in Suite 208 of the Conroy Square office complex, 3355 Cherry Ridge Drive in San Antonio.
“This program will give attendees the opportunity to learn the advantages of raised beds, including improved soil, better drainage, increased yield, less weeding, easier pest control and quicker access to your planting beds,” said David Rodriguez, AgriLife Extension horticulturist, Bexar County. “We will give basic instruction and talk about the materials needed to build your own raised-bed garden area.”
Rodriguez will be joined by Bexar County Master Gardener Ron Csehil, who will discuss the benefits of drip irrigation and give a basic demonstration on how to install a drip system into a raised-bed garden.
“Both raised-bed gardening and drip irrigation are good ways to save water,” Rodriguez said. “Water conservation is an important aspect to consider whenever you’re gardening, and this workshop is designed to provide information that can save you both water and money.”
The program registration fee of $10 will be collected at the door. Make checks payable to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension.
