BROWNWOOD — The Texas 4-H Conference Center on Lake Brownwood will be hosting the annual October Fest camp for adults 50 years old and older from Oct. 21-25.
Sponsored by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, October Fest is offered for senior men and women as an opportunity to be involved in fun and educational activities, coordinators said. The theme for this year’s program will be “Christmas is Coming.”
Program opportunities include “hands-on” learning centers, educational sessions and other projects. Educational program topics include cooking, finance, crafts, healthy living, and more.
“The amenities at the camp will add to the October Fest experience,” said Mark Carroll, 4-H AgriLife Extension program specialist at the Brownwood center. “Tennis, horseshoes, billiards, volleyball, shuffleboard and dominoes, as well as card and table games, are all popular October Fest activities. The last evening of the October Fest program will feature a closing banquet and entertainment.”
The center is 11 miles north of Brownwood on Texas Highway 279, then one mile east on Farm-to-Market Road 3021. It is located on 78 acres of wooded hills and framed by a mile of Lake Brownwood shoreline.
Registration includes all meals, refreshments and accommodations. Individual cost to stay in the center’s dorm area is $210 and $250 to stay in a semi-private room in the Leadership Lodge.
