MONAHANS – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Ward County will conduct their Spring Lawn and Garden Workshop from 5:30-8:30 p.m. March 20 in the Ward County Convention Center, 400 E. 4th St. in Monahans.
Those planning to attend should RSVP to the AgriLife Extension office in Ward County no later than March 14 by calling 432-943-2682. Individual registration is $12. The fee includes snacks and refreshments.
“The goal of this workshop is to give local homeowners the knowledge and resources needed to maintain a sustainable home landscape in arid Ward County and our surrounding area,” said Caleb Eaton, AgriLife Extension agent in Ward County.
“West Texas is a land of extremes,” Eaton noted. “This being said, landscaping methods and resources for other parts of the country or state often do not fit our extremes. Without proper planning and knowledge of what works and what doesn’t, local homeowners risk wasting time, money and resources on a landscape that is not sustainable in our harsh climate.”
Eaton will be joined by Jeff Floyd, AgriLife Extension horticulture agent for Ector and Midland counties in presenting Lawn Management for Arid West Texas, Tree Care 101 and Alternative Landscaping Options.
Eaton said that as an added bonus, he’s asking participants with specific landscape-related questions or who have a picture of a problem within their landscape to email those to him at cleaton@ag.tamu.edu by the March 14 RSVP deadline. Questions and/or pictures appropriate to the subject matter will be covered at some time during the workshop, he said.
