MIDLAND – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has hired Candace Carter as the new family and consumer sciences agent for Midland County.
The announcement was made by Midland County Judge Mike Bradford and Ray Bader, AgriLife Extension district administrator at Fort Stockton.
Carter, who was hired March 15, is currently completing AgriLife Extension’s First Step orientation training in Andrews County before assuming her permanent assignment in Midland County on April 21.
“We are very pleased to have Candace join us here in AgriLife Extension’s Far West District,” Bader said. “She has a varied and extensive background in a wide array of family and consumer sciences-related areas that should serve her well in this key county.”
Bader said Carter is not the first new face in AgriLife Extension’s Midland County office as she will join Courtni Munson, who was hired as the new AgriLife Extension 4-H and youth development agent effective Jan. 15.
Carter holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in foods and nutrition and nutrition, respectively, from College of Saint Elizabeth, N.J.
Her resume states her previous professional experience includes work as an independent consultant for Primerica Financial Services of Edison, N.J., as a weight loss counselor for LA Weight Loss Center of West Caldwell, N.J., and as a program developer for the Essex County College nursing department, Newark, N.J. She has also volunteered as a nutrition counselor for the Women, Infant and Child or WIC program of East Orange, N.J.
