COLLEGE STATION – Linda Bice, a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office associate for District 1 in Amarillo, was honored with the Texas A&M AgriLife Vice Chancellor’s Award of Excellence in the Office and Administrative Staff category.
Established in 1980, this awards program recognizes the commitment and outstanding contributions of faculty and staff across Texas A&M AgriLife. The award was presented Jan. 6 at the 2015 Vice Chancellor’s Awards in Excellence ceremony in College Station.
Bice has made it her personal mission to ensure county AgriLife Extension agents and specialists have the necessary information, materials and support to shine in whatever they are doing, according to the nomination.
“Her positive attitude, enthusiasm for the job and friendly personality make working with her a pleasure,” the nomination stated.
In her job, Bice supports the 4-H and youth development, gerontology and health, and cancer prevention programs in District 1. In addition, she assists with the switchboard rotation and serves as assistant office manager. According to the nomination, in handling all of these responsibilities, Linda never complains, and is quick to assist others when she observes a need.
The nomination read, “The Panhandle District is one of the most active 4-H programs in the state, which means Linda is constantly supporting multiple events and activities. She provides district support by sending contest information, securing awards, collecting entries, preparing contest materials, organizing supplies and awards for contests, and coordinating facilities and transportation.”
It was estimated that in a typical year, Bice worked with more than 25 different district-wide 4-H events, activities and training.
She has previously been recognized with the AgriLife Extension Superior Service Award – Office Support, Texas Extension Specialists Association Distinguished Achievement in Support Service Award, Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center Team Builder and Texans Caring for Texans Award.
“Linda Bice is a true professional with a strong work ethic, unquestionable character and a commitment to serving others,” according to her nomination. “Her dedication to ‘making the best better’ in her job and personal life has made her a valued member of our team. Through her efforts, the entire AgriLife Extension faculty in the Panhandle District has benefited and been made to look their very best.”
