ABILENE – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service named Thomas Cunningham the new AgriLife Extension assistant for agriculture and natural resources/4-H in Taylor County effective July 15.

The announcement was made by AgriLife Extension district administrator Marty Gibbs of San Angelo.

“We are pleased to have Thomas join us here in the West Central District,” Gibbs said. “Taylor County is one of the more populated counties within our 23-county district. Its diverse population and agricultural industry provides the ideal setting for an assistantship such as the one Thomas has assumed.

“Thomas is a native West Texan, having been reared in Canyon. He has a strong family background in the 4-H youth development program and FFA. These experiences will serve him well as much of his job responsibility will deal with the 4-H program, AgriLife Extension’s youth educational component.”

Cunningham earned a bachelor’s degree from West Texas A&M University at Canyon.

His honors and community involvement include being named to the Dean’s List at West Texas A&M, volunteering for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, president of Kappa Alpha Order, work with the Eveline Rivers Christmas Project and president of the West Texas A&M University Rifle Club.
